Weather Outlook 16th August 2018 (12 pm)

An approaching tropical wave will continue to affect our islands today resulting in occasional cloudiness and scattered showers. Deterioration in conditions due to an increase in moisture and instability is likely tonight into tomorrow with cloudy skies, showers and thunderstorm activity.

Meanwhile, an active tropical wave presently analyzed near 50 degrees west (750 miles east of St. Vincent and the Grenadines), is moving near 15 -20 mph and is associated with disorganized showers and thunderstorms.  Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next 24 - 36 hours however, by late Saturday; unfavorable conditions should limit the chance of additional development. Regardless of development, this system is likely to bring pockets of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorm activity across SVG. Residents and motorist are advised to vigilant. The Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the progress of this system and provide updates as necessary.

Easterly winds ranging between 15 km/h to 35km/h are expected during the next 72 hours.

Slight to moderate easterly sea swells seas are expected during the next few days with swells peaking near 2.0 meters (7.0 feet)

 

No significant haze intrusion is expected during this forecast period.
