A WEATHER INFORMATION STATEMENT
Issued: 6:00 pm Friday, 7th September, 2018.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services is monitoring two westward moving areas of disturbed weather that have recently developed into Tropical Depression numbers 8 and 9. These system are presently located over the far Eastern Atlantic and Central, respectively.
At 5 pm, Tropical Depression number 8 was centered near 13.2° N 18.6°W or about 405 miles east-southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands with movement towards the west near 10 mph.
Of more significance at this time, is Tropical Depression number 9 over the Central Atlantic which is currently centered near 13.6°N 34.9°W or about 1755 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.
Forecast models indicate the potential for further development of this system during the next five days, and based on latest track projections, it could pose a threat to the islands of the Lesser Antilles as it approaches towards the middle of next week.
