Latest update on Hurricane Isaac; Little change in strength since 5 am

At 11 am, Hurricane Isaac was located near latitude 14.7 North; longitude 43.9 West, or 1150 miles east- northeast of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. The estimated minimum central pressure is 993 millibars.

"Isaac" is moving towards the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). On the present forecast track, "Isaac" is forecast to move towards the northern potion of the island chain by late Wednesday.

Some strengthening is possible during the next 24 hours. However, the system is forecast to weaken by the middle of the week as it approaches the Northern Lesser Antilles.

Hurricane Isaac is a small hurricane. Hurricane- force winds (74 mph and more) extend outward up to 10 miles from the center, and tropical storm-force winds (39 to 73 mph) extend outward up to 45 miles.

All residents are advised to keep informed on the progress of "Isaac" and pay close attention to information being issued by The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services.
