At 5:00 PM, Hurricane Florence was located near latitude 25.0 North, longitude 49.6 West. Florence is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and a turn towards the west is expected tomorrow. A low level trough/shearline should be crossing the island chain with some scattered showers overnight. Additionally, a northward pull of moisture associated

with the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) could increase the chance for showers by early Friday. On Saturday, localized instability could develop with few showers as Florence creates a weak pressure gradient across our area. Moderate (20 - 30km/h) east north-easterly trades should prevail tonight, veering to east south-east and decreasing to gentle by Friday afternoon. Light air to almost calm may be experienced by Saturday afternoon before gradually increasing and backing to north- easterly Saturday night.

Expect slight to moderate (1.0m – 2.0m) east north-easterly swells across SVG, falling to slightly (0.5 -1.5m)  on Saturday and originating from north north-east by Saturday night.

Good visibility can be expected until Saturday night when slight haze due to dust concentrations approaches the islands.

Note:

The broad and elongated circulation several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands with associated shower and thunderstorm activity has not yet increased in organization. However, there is a high chance (80-90%) for development into a tropical depression within the next day or two while the system moves slowly westward or west-northwestward across the tropical Atlantic Ocean…. East of Leeward Islands around Thursday.…this disturbance is being monitored

The tropical wave is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa early Friday, with a medium (60%) chance for development into a tropical depression over the weekend or early next week. The system is expected to move westward or west-northwestward over the far eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean.... this disturbance will be monitored
