A weak low level shearline/trough is crossing the island chain with a few isolated showers. The associated deep-layered ‘cut-off’ low pressure area towards the far north north-east of the island chain, has split the Atlantic High Pressure System and could induce couple shearlines/weak instability across the islands this weekend.

A thin wake cloud on the eastern side of mainland St.Vincent, contributed to isolated brief showers

and occasional cloudiness during the latter half of this afternoon. By Friday evening, some increase in lower level moisture due to another lower-level shearline/trough could result in occasional cloudiness with shower activity continuing on Saturday. Meanwhile, hazy conditions should be thickening across our islands and the Western Atlantic High Pressure system should also be rebuilding by Sunday afternoon.

Moderate to fresh (20 - 35km/h) easterly breeze can be expected tonight, occasionally backing to north-easterly over the weekend.

Slight to moderate sea conditions with north-easterly swells ranging 0.5m to 1.2m on the west coasts and 1.0m to 1.5m on east coasts, are across our islands. A slight increase up to 1.8m on east coasts is possible during Saturday.

Barometric readings should range 1013 - 1017mb over the next few days.

A plume of Saharan dust should be approaching the islands during the weekend. Dust concentrations could peak during Sunday, with PM 2.5 values nearing 84µg/m3 and PM 10 values nearing 95µg/m3, before slightly decreasing on Monday.
