A shearline will continue to affect the island chain this afternoon. Instability will persist into tonight and tomorrow morning. Therefore, an increase in cloud cover and a few scattered showers are likely this afternoon.

Model guidance is indicating most of the shower activity for tonight with a few scattered showers in the morning. Possible isolated thunderstorms are likely as the light wind regime continues.  In addition, haze intrusion is forecast from this afternoon lasting into Wednesday. Haze intrusion inhibits showers and can reduce the shower activity associated with the shearline.

Mostly fair conditions are forecast to return briefly on Wednesday before the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) moves northwards bringing some moisture over the Grenadines. By Thursday, a thinning out of the haze is forecast and showers are forecast across SVG due to this northward migration of the ITCZ.

Meanwhile, as of 8:00 o’clock this morning, the broad area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave south of the Cabo Verde Islands has become more defined and may become a tropical depression during the next day. At present, its movement is north-westward across the Eastern Atlantic and poses no threat to the Eastern Caribbean. However, as the system becomes more organized, the pressure gradient will weaken across the area and SVG can experience some hot days and nights.

East to east north-easterly winds at 10km/h to 25km/h will persist increasing to 30km/h on Tuesday.  Light winds are anticipated around Wednesday into Thursday. Sea conditions are forecast to remain slight (0.5m- 1.2m) in open waters becoming moderate (1.8m) on the East coast around Tuesday into Wednesday. By Wednesday slight conditions should return again.
