A favourable upper level pattern coupled with low-level instability triggered heavy showers and thunderstorm activity to the south of mainland St. Vincent this evening. Cloudy conditions are expected to persist into Saturday and may be accompanied by showers. Again, weak instability crossing the island chain Saturday night into Sunday morning may generate cloudy skies and instigate some showers. Occasional cloudy skies are expected to continue across Monday.

Gentle to moderate (10km/h – 25km/h) easterly trades will move across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines during the next 72 hours becoming east south easterly on occasions. Slight to moderate sea conditions, with swells peaking to 1.0m on the western coasts and 1.5m on the eastern coasts are forecast for tonight into Saturday. Generally moderate sea conditions are forecasted for Sunday, with swells peaking at 1.5m on the western coasts and 2.0m on the eastern coasts. A slight decrease on eastern coasts(1.5m) is expected to return by mid-Monday.

Varying concentrations of Saharan dust haze will continue affect the visiblity across the island chain over the weekend.
