The atmosphere is moist and occasional showers are forecast across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines during the next 72 hours. Showers are likely to be moderate becoming heavy at times with possible isolated thunderstorms due to the presence of an upper level trough that will linger over the region for the next few days.
Model guidance is suggesting that ‘flare - ups’ (sudden moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms) are possible tonight into tomorrow. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should remain alert. Instability will continue on Tuesday night into Wednesday, triggering some occasional light showers.
Moderate to heavy showers, possible isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds are forecast around Wednesday night into Thursday as another tropical wave inches closer to the island chain.
A moderate easterly wind flow (~15-35km/h) will move across the islands, backing to east north east (ENE) around Tuesday night. An easterly flow will return by Wednesday, increasing to fresh breeze, becoming gusty at times near showers from Wednesday night. Breezy(~40km/h) conditions will return on Thursday.
Sea conditions will be moderate (1.5m-2.0m) in open waters tonight and tomorrow, with deterioration possible (2.5m) on the eastern coasts from late Tuesday. Small craft operators and sea bathers should therefore exercise caution for above normal sea swells especially on eastern coast. Seas may become rough(3.0m) on eastern coasts by Thursday night. In addition, there will be no significant haze intrusion within this forecast period.
