UPDATED WEATHER INFORMATION ON “ISAAC”

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Isaac, as it moves closer of the Lesser Antilles.
At 11 am Tropical Storm Isaac was centered near latitude 15.0° North; longitude 54.7° West or about 450 miles (725 km) east northeast of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Aircraft data indicate maximum sustained remain near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast during the next 72 hours. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outwards up to 175 miles (280) km, primarily to the north of the center. “Isaac” is moving westward at 17 mph (28 km/h).
On the current forecast track, the center of this system is forecast to pass near Dominica, or approximately 150 miles (240 km) north of mainland St. Vincent early Thursday. As the system progresses westward, moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds can be expected from early tomorrow into Friday. Forecast Models suggest that rainfall accumulations of 50 to 75 mm (2 to 3 inches) are possible across SVG during the passage of “Isaac”. Sea conditions are also forecast to deteriorate from later today with swells peaking near 3.0 meters or 10 feet.
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services will continue to monitor this system and provide the necessary updates and/or advisories.
