UPDATED WEATHER INFORMATION ON “ISAAC”

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Isaac, as it nears Leeward Islands…“Isaacs has significantly weakened over night”
At 5 am Tropical Storm Isaac was centered near latitude 15.4° North; longitude 59.7° West or about 170 miles (275 km) east northeast of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast during the next 72 hours. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outwards up to 160 miles (260) km, primarily to the north of the center. “Isaac” is moving westward at 17 mph (28 km/h).
On the current forecast track, the center of this system is forecast to pass near Dominica, or approximately 150 miles (240 km) north of mainland St. Vincent some time today. Some pockets of light to moderate showers, and possible isolated thunderstorms are likely into Friday, with rainfall accumulations of 25 to 50 mm (1 to 2 inches) now possible. Sea conditions are expected to moderate to rough in open waters with swells peaking from 2.0 to 3.0 meters (7 to 10 feet). A small-craft warning is in effect. Small-craft operators and sea bathers are strongly advised to exercise caution.
