Latest update on Tropical Depression "11" & Tropical Storm Kirk

Issued: 6:00 am, Saturday 23rd September, 2018.

 

At 5 am, Tropical Depression "11" was located near latitude 14.5 North; longitude 55.0 West, or 415 miles east of the Windward Islands with movement towards the west near 6 mph. Depression "11" is forecast to dissipate later today before it reaches the islands. However, shower activity associated with the remnants of this system are likely across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines late tonight into Monday.

Additionally, a westward moving tropical wave is expected to produce shower and thunderstorm activity by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, at 5 am, Tropical Storm Kirk was centered near latitude 9.1 North; longitude 28.0 West, or 2280 miles east of the Lesser Antilles . "Kirk " is moving towards the west near 18 mph,with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and higher gust.Some strengthening is possible during the next 48 hours. Weakening is likely during the middle to latter part of the week.

On the present forecast track, the center of this system is forecast to approach SVG by late Thursday.
