This afternoon scattered showers can be expected across the Grenadines as the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) nudges northward, with few showers possible across mainland tonight. A surge of low level moisture ahead of the next tropical wave could move across our area with few showers on Tuesday. Meanwhile, instability with cloudiness should be increasing across St.Vincent and the
Grenadines (SVG) by Tuesday afternoon with showers and wind speeds increasing and possibly isolated thunderstorms by nightfall. Gusty winds 46km/h (25knots) could accompany thunderstorm activity during Wednesday and instability should be decreased by Thursday afternoon as the Atlantic High Pressure System builds across the islands.
Expect east north-easterly moderate to fresh (25 - 40km/h) breeze, with direction veering to east south-easterly by Wednesday, becoming temporarily strong (up to 46km/h) by evening. Direction should be backing to east north-easterly late Thursday.
Barometric Pressure readings are ranging 1014-1016mb and expected to dip to 1012mb - 1014mb this afternoon, falling further to 1011mb - 1013mb on Tuesday with the approach of the tropical wave. Readings should rise again on Thursday as the Atlantic High Pressure System builds.
Sea swells are originating from the north north-east and rising, to peak near 1.8m on the west coasts and up to 2.2m on east coasts overnight. Further increase is expected on Wednesday with swells peaking near 2.0m and 2.5m on west and east coasts respectively…marine advisories/warnings may be issued... Wave heights should be decreasing by Friday.
Expect fair visibility with thinned dust concentration across our area, but increased hazy conditions can be expected by late Wednesday, with thick plume of dust approaching the islands. During Thursday visibility and air quality could be significantly reduced. Small craft operators and persons with respiratory concerns should be alert as PM2.5 levels could peak near 68 µg/m3 and PM10 levels could peak near 95 µg/m3 by evening.
