A low-level trough would begin to affect St. Vincent & the Grenadines from tonight, generating cloudy skies and triggering some scattered showers with varying intensities into and across Sunday. Instability trailing this feature could result in cloudy conditions again on Monday. Meanwhile, a plume of Saharan dust is expected to thicken across our islands by late Sunday. Persons with respiratory concerns should be aware that air quality may be reduced and take the necessary precautions.
Moderate to fresh(20-35km/h) east to east north easterly trades should become light and gentle(10-20 km/h) and south easterly on Sunday. An east north easterly shift with an increase(25-40km/h) in speed is likely from Monday onward.
Currently, moderate sea-conditions are across our islands with heights near 1.5 m on western coasts and 1.8 m – 2.5 m on eastern coasts with east north-easterly swells. Small-craft operators and sea-bathers should continue to exercise caution. Reduced visibility and air-quality are likely due to moderate haze becoming thick by Sunday evening, therefore during this time, small-craft operators and sea-bathers should be aware/exercise caution for above normal sea swells and reduced visibility.
