Instability lingers around from the passage of a tropical wave but moisture levels are not impressive and upper levels are unfavourable. Hence some scattered showers and a low chance of isolated thunderstorms are forecast this morning, with a gradual drying out of the atmosphere by this afternoon. September is usually hot and humid and heat discomfort may continue around Wednesday afternoon into Thursday.
Model guidance is indicating that some showers are likely around Thursday afternoon. The chance of showers will continue into the night, but by Friday morning, some drier conditions are forecast to return, with the northern portion of the mainland likely to receive some showers as a small perturbation affects mainly the Northern Windward Islands.
Winds will be generally from the east at 15km/h-35km/h over the next few days. Seas will be slight to moderate in open waters with swells ranging between 0.5m-1.0m on the western coasts and 1.0m-1.2m on the eastern coasts. In addition, slight haze intrusion is forecast over the next few days.
Meanwhile, the SVG Meteorological Services continues to monitor a low pressure system off the coast of the Cabo Verde Islands. Conditions, such as water temperatures are favourable for development, with a high chance of cyclone formation in the upcoming days. Residents and motorists are urged to be vigilant and to stay updated as we have entered the peak of the hurricane season.
