Instability associated with two tropical waves will dominate the weather pattern across SVG over the weekend. Models suggest moderate shower activity tonight(Friday) into Saturday morning with a decrease in intensity as the day progresses. By late evening, another tropical wave would affect the islands and should result in moderate to heavy showers on Sunday. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should remain alert. The Atlantic high pressure system would regain its dominance early Monday.
Strong(near 40km/h) east northeast (ENE) to easterly (E) trades will cross our islands over the weekend. Saturday night into Sunday, the wind speeds are expected to increase(45-50km/h) as the second tropical wave begins to affect the islands. Currently, seas are generally moderate, with swells peaking at 1.5m on the western coasts, and ranging between 2.0m-2.5m on the eastern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers are asked to exercise caution for above normal sea swells and gusty winds. These conditions could further deteriorate by late Saturday. In addition, a layer of Saharan dust haze will be across the region over the weekend but could slightly thin out on Sunday.
