A tropical wave is currently affecting the islands, generating cloudy skies and pockets of showers. Residents and motorists in areas near the red and orange zones near the La Soufriere volcano should remain alert. The chance of showers increases from late Thursday and along Friday as unstable conditions cross the island chain under the influence of a favourable upper level environment. Some improvement to these conditions are anticipated on Saturday.

Gentle to moderate(10-25km/h) east south easterly trades will cross the islands, increasing to fresh(near 30 kmh) and becoming generally easterly on Thursday. A north east flow on Saturday could shift to south easterly by evening. Seas are currently moderate in open waters with swells peaking up to 1.5 m on western coasts and near 2.3 m on eastern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution for above normal sea swells especially on eastern coasts. Dust haze concentrations will continue to decrease as the weekend approaches.
