Weak unstable conditions are affecting our islands and this will trigger pockets of showers across SVG. There is also the possibility for isolated thunderstorms. By Saturday, activity associated with the ITCZ (where north and south east trade winds meet) could migrate slightly northward to our islands resulting in moderate showers and thunderstorms. Residents should be alert. Meanwhile, The SVG Meteorological Services continues to monitor a tropical wave that is located about 36 W with an 80% chance of tropical cyclone formation in the next 7 days. Residents are advised to stay informed on the progress of this wave as it is expected to pass just north of our islands next week on its current projected track.
Gentle to moderate (~15 - 25 km/h) easterly to east north-easterly trades are crossing our islands with a slight increase (~30 km/h) expected from Friday. A shift to east south easterly is also anticipated from Friday. Seas are slight to moderate in open water with swells peaking near 1.0m on western coasts and near 2.0 m on eastern coasts during this forecast period. Slight Saharan dust haze intrusion is anticipated along Saturday but should thin out on Sunday.
