72 hours outlook (2)

As low level winds converge across our area, the presence of an upper level jet stream will continue to provide support for pockets of moderate showers. These conditions are likely to persist within the next 24 hours. A shearline should affect our islands by late Monday into Tuesday allowing for additional scattered showers. By Wednesday, relatively fairer conditions are forecast, however Saharan dust haze concentrations should increase, resulting in reduced air quality and visibility.

Moderate to fresh (~25-35 km/h) easterly trades are crossing our islands. Winds should shift to east south easterly from Monday and become occasionally strong (~40 km/h) by midweek. Seas should remain moderate in open waters with swells peaking near 1.5m on western coasts and near 2.0m on eastern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution for above normal sea swells and occasional gusty winds.
