Tropical Storm Gabrielle is located north of the Leeward Islands and will maintain a path away from the Eastern Caribbean. This will however result in light wind speeds which facilitate warm conditions over the next few days. This day time heating, coupled with moisture from south easterly winds increases the potential for showers and thunderstorm activity during afternoon periods (localised conditions) across SVG. Remain alert. A tropical wave should affect the islands on Tuesday. Meanwhile, another tropical wave has just emerged off the coast of Africa along 22W with a 20% chance of formation. Residents are advised to stay informed on the progress of this system.
Light and gentle (less than 15 km/h) east south-easterly trades are crossing our islands, slightly increasing (~15-25 km/h) by Sunday. A temporary shift to east north easterly is expected late Sunday into early Monday. Seas will be slight to moderate in open water with swells peaking to 1.0m on western coasts and peaking to 1.5 m on eastern coasts. Slight Saharan dust haze is noticeable across SVG but should thin out on Saturday. Some intrusion is also expected along Sunday.
