Ahead of the next tropical wave, a moisture surge (weak tropical wave characteristics) is moving across the region with few scattered showers. By tonight, mid to upper level trough is expected to deepen across our area, supporting scattered showers. An increase in low level moisture on Saturday could result in scattered showers increasing towards evening as another tropical wave approaches
the eastern Caribbean. The Windward Islands and some Leeward Islands can expect significant rainfall accumulations. Models indicate that favourable positioning of an upper level trough with cloudiness, showers and periods of rain with possibly isolated thunderstorms could intensify Saturday night. Instability and low level moisture converging behind the axis could linger on Sunday Rainfall accumulations into Sunday morning, could reach near 60-75 mm (up to 3 inches) across parts of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Residents and motorist should be on the alert….conditions would be monitored..
Atlantic High Pressure system is expected to begin building across the region during Monday.
Moderate (20-35km/h) breeze should increase to fresh (30-40km/h) by Saturday. A temporary decrease is expected overnight Saturday and again late Sunday to gentle (12-19km/h) before gradually becoming moderate to fresh by Monday.
Mariners can expect slight to moderate seas in open waters with swells on west and east coasts ranging between 1.0m and 2.0m, still decreasing slightly on Sunday to range 0.6m – 1.5m. Slight haze with varying intensity can be expected, giving way to the moisture associated with tropical waves.
