Improvement is forecast for Monday as the Ridge of high pressure re-establishes itself across the islands.
Model guidance is indicating that most of the shower activity will be from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning with rainfall accumulations of approximately 50mm possible within this time period. Residents and motorist are advised to exercise caution over the weekend.
East north-easterly to East south- easterly winds at 15km/h to 40km/h should decrease as Saturday progresses, becoming gentle by Sunday night (10km/h- 18km/h). Strong easterly trades will dominate by Monday as the ridge of high pressure builds. Seas are to remain slight to moderate in open waters (1.2m-2.0m). Model analysis indicates haze intrusion to thicken over the weekend into the new week.
