During today, unstable conditions affected our islands with the northern portion of mainland St.Vincent experiencing moderate to heavy showers during early morning. Isolated brief pockets of moderate downpours also occurred across parts of St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) during the morning. By afternoon, most of the Grenadines were overcast and hazy with light rain while most of the shower
and thunderstorm activity was reported in Grenada to our south as well as the northern section of mainland St.Vincent and the Central Windward Islands (St. Lucia and Martinique). An increase in low level moisture and shower activity is still possible across SVG overnight as another tropical wave approaches the Eastern Caribbean. Models indicate that favourable positioning of an upper level trough could result in cloudiness, showers and periods of rain with possibly isolated thunderstorms, especially across the northern Windward Islands and some Leeward Islands. Residents and motorist should continue to be alert near rivers, streams, and low lying areas as instability and shower activity could spread across SVG.
The Atlantic High Pressure system is expected to build across the region during Monday.
Moderate (20-30km/h) breeze from the east to east south-east overnight, should become gentle (12-19km/h) by Sunday evening gradually increasing to moderate/fresh during Monday as the High Pressure rebuilds across our area.
Mariners can expect slight to moderate seas in open waters with swells on west and east coasts ranging between 1.0m and 2.0m, decreasing slightly on Sunday to range 0.6m – 1.5m.
Slight haze with varying intensity continues across our islands, occasionally giving way to the moisture/showers.
