Mostly fair conditions were reported at the Argyle International airport this afternoon while showers and thunderstorm activity occurred over the extreme Southern Islands, and some showers were reported in St. Lucia to the north. Tonight, a tropical wave will begin to affect the islands, with instability lasting into Saturday.
As previously forecast, most of the significant shower activity will be across the Leewards and Northern Windward islands. Nevertheless, lingering instability can result in scattered showers across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as time progresses, with model guidance indicating a few scattered showers late Friday night into Saturday morning.
The Ridge of high pressure will briefly establish itself across the island chain around Saturday afternoon, before a weak trough affects the islands late Saturday into Sunday. Some scattered showers are likely then. A gradual decrease in wind speed is forecast.
ENE-ESE at 15km/h – 25km/h can become mostly from the ESE tomorrow at 10km / - 20km/h. Moderate to fresh breeze from the east to east north-east should prevail Saturday into Sunday. Slight sea conditions forecast (1.0m-1.2m) on both west and east coast continuing into tomorrow, increasing gradually to moderate (1.5m/2.0m) on the east coast from Saturday into Sunday. Another plumb of Saharan dust over the weekend is likely.
