As the Atlantic high pressure system re-establishes itself across the islands this afternoon, occasional cloudiness and some scattered showers are forecast for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Meanwhile, the Leewards and Northern Windwards continue to be under the influence of a tropical wave.
Tonight, some fair conditions are likely with brief isolated showers for SVG.
Though a trough will be affecting the islands tomorrow, model guidance is indicating a relatively dry atmosphere, with the possibility of occasional shallow showers, breezy and slightly hazy conditions for the next 48 hours. A tropical wave currently analyzed at 45W should be in the vicinity late Monday. Model guidance is not indicating any significant shower activity across SVG with this wave. Any nearby precipitation is mostly related to the monsoon trough/ITCZ proximity, mainly south of 10N.
Islands like Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago will be under the influence of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), generating showers and periods of rain from Monday into Tuesday.
A disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms is located about midway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles. Some slight development of this disturbance is possible during the next day. Model guidance is indicating that this disturbance could become an open wave before reaching the islands; some showers are forecast across SVG Wednesday night into Thursday.
Generally easterly at 20km/h-40km/h is forecast as the Atlantic high pressure builds, becoming 25km/h-40km/h by tomorrow. Consequently, slight to moderate (1.2-1.8m) sea conditions today should become generally moderate on both west and east coast tomorrow (1.5-2.0m) as wind speeds increase. A decrease in wind speed to 15km/h-30km/h from Monday into Tuesday is likely due to approaching instability. Sea conditions should return to slight to moderate during this time period. As of tomorrow, slight haze intrusion should be observed.
