An induced low level trough/shearline is affecting the islands mainly Central and Northern Windward Islands and Leeward Islands. Few showers can be expected across our area later this evening and overnight as moisture trails the trough. See image at 11:30am compliments RAMMB.
On Monday, the cluster of clouds seen on the bottom right of the image (remnants of Nadine) should be approaching the area with some breezy conditions by afternoon, with showers and isolated thunderstorm activity continuing into Tuesday.
This could be followed by moisture associated with a disturbance area expected to affect the southern portion of the island chain overnight Tuesday through to Thursday. Across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), cloudy skies with widespread shower activity resulting in copious amounts of rainfall, could be supported by favourable mid-to upper levels. Residents and motorists should be prepared, as rainfall accumulations expected, may trigger flooding and land slippage…. Flash-Flood watches may be issued.
Expect gentle (10 - 20 km/h) north-easterly breeze to increase to moderate (20-30km/h) trade winds by nightfall, further to fresh (up to 35km/h) by Monday afternoon. The wind direction should veer to east south-easterly during Wednesday, becoming occasional strong (40 - 50km/h) Wednesday afternoon/evening.
Very good visibility is on our horizon, but expected to decrease tonight as thin dust patches move along the increasing trade winds toward the island chain.
Mean sea level readings now range 1014 -1016 mb and should be dipping to 1012 – 1014 mb this afternoon with weak instability across the area, further dip expected to 1010 -1012 mb by Tuesday.
Expect slight (0.5 - 1.0m) seas on the west coasts with occasional smooth seas and slight to moderate (1.0 – 1.5m) seas on the east coasts with north north-easterly swells. During Monday, wave heights should be rising in response to increasing wind speeds, with swells on west coast peaking near 1.8m and on east coasts near 2.4m by late Tuesday; originating from east by Wednesday.
