The Atlantic High Pressure should rebuild on Thursday while dipping southward over the Western Atlantic Ocean on Friday, resulting in increased wind speeds across the Caribbean region. A weak surface to low level shearline could move quickly southward across our islands with temporary cloudiness and few showers Friday night. Fresh brisk north-easterly winds can be expected to continue for next couple
days, becoming possibly strong (up to 50km/h) late Friday into Saturday. Persons in exposed (Windward) areas should be cautious; as large branches may be set in motion/bend with the force of the wind, over-head wires may become disconnected and loose items may be dislodged or tip over. The High Pressure center should weaken late Saturday, resulting in wind-speed decreasing to fresh (30 - 40km/h) breeze, across our area by Sunday afternoon.
Slight to moderate swells are expected tonight, but wave heights should be rising to moderate (1.5 -2.5m) across SVG by late Thursday. Mariners and small craft-operators should exercise extreme caution as long waves and airborne sea-spray may be encountered in open water by late Friday, with moderate to rough swells (2.0 - 3.0 m) possibly increasing further on Saturday to 3.5m…Marine advisories would be issued towards weekend for above normal seas and wind speeds 25 to 33 knots…. Seas should be reducing late Sunday across SVG.
Slight hazy conditions are expected on our horizon tonight, as thin patches of dust concentration are expected across our area Thursday, clearing out late Friday.
