A low pressure area and trailing cold front has a weak induced trough just north-east of the island chain, with few isolated showers across the Northern Windward Islands. No significant feature is affecting our islands St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), but shallow cloud patches and a wake cloud off the west coast of Barbados could bring the few isolated showers. Over the weekend, this low pressure area
should drift north-eastward as the Western Atlantic High Pressure System rebuilds across our area. Limited moisture converging on the southern edge of the High Pressure, could bring few scattered showers across our islands on Sunday.
East north-easterly moderate (20 - 30km/h) breeze should continue across our islands this afternoon, backing to north north-easterly and becoming occasionally fresh (up to 40km/h) by late Saturday with the building High Pressure System. Strong (40 – 50km/h) breeze can be expected by late Monday with higher gusts nearing moderate gale (50 - 61km/h) strength.
Slight to moderate sea conditions (1.0 – 1.8m), are expected across SVG. Wave heights should be gradually rising over the weekend to peak near 1.5 on the west coast and near 2.2m on east coast by late Sunday.
Barometric readings should range 1013 – 1015mb, occasionally rising to 1017mb over the weekend.
A Plume of dust across the Atlantic Ocean should be steered by the Western Atlantic High Pressure System over the weekend, with the main mass approaching the South America coastal areas during Sunday. Slight haze is expected on our horizon late Sunday, with PM2.5 values expected to peak near 24µg/m3 for and PM10 values nearing 35µg/m3 during Monday afternoon and becoming patchy by nightfall….JMCD
