The deep Atlantic High Pressure System remains the dominant feature with breezy conditions and limited moisture across our area. A trough axis on the southern edge of the High Pressure System is associated with dry air (less than 35%) above the 1000mb level (~111m up into the atmosphere). The east north-easterly fresh (30 - 40km/h) breeze should be veering to east south-easterly this afternoon,
with some lower level moisture near the 850mb level (~1458m up into the atmosphere) being advected across our area tonight from equatorial regions. An upper level long-wave trough shifting eastward could provide occasional support for some anticipated showers. Models indicate no significant rainfall accumulations and the presence of dry air and dust concentration could limit showers.
Moderate sea swells originating from east north-east are across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). Mariners should continue to exercise caution, but wave heights are gradually reducing across SVG to become slight to moderate by late Friday.
Barometric readings should dip this afternoon to range 1014 – 1016mb across our area, tipping to 1016 – 1019mb over the next few days.
Patches of dust concentration of varying intensity can be expected across our islands, possibly thickening late Friday before thinning out late Saturday….JMCD
