A weak surface to low level shearline across the southern Windwards resulted in few showers across the Grenadines this morning. Meanwhile, the Atlantic High Pressure System dominates conditions across the region, with fresh (25 – 40km/h) breeze from the east north-east and dry subsident mid-upper levels. Few showers are possible this afternoon, as lower level moisture maintains a wake-cloud stretching
off the western coast of Barbados towards mainland St.Vincent. Over next few days, cloud patches moving within the wind flow could bring brief showers across the islands.
The Northern and Central Windward Islands can expect showers late Thursday associated with speed-shearline. Few showers could reach St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) during Friday along with veer in wind direction to east south-easterly. The Atlantic high pressure system will remain dominant with shallow low level cloud patches expected to generate fair to partly cloudy skies and brief showers.
Moderate (1.5 -2.2m) sea swells originating from north-east are currently across our islands and mariners should continue to exercise caution. Some reduction in wave heights (1.2 – 2.2m) may be noticeable tonight into Wednesday, but small craft operators should note that northerly swells are possible across SVG during Thursday, returning to north-easterly by Friday afternoon.
Barometric readings should range 1015 – 1018mb across our area, occasionally tipping to 1019mb over the next few days.
Slight haze on our horizon due to dust concentrations can thicken during Wednesday and expected to thin out by Friday.
