A weak lower-level trough induced by a low pressure area in the lower mid-levels could cause instability to increase across the island chain. There is a good chance that lower mid-levels could support increased cloudiness with showers across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) tonight into Friday. Although we have just passed the midpoint of historical dry-season, models suggest about 1 inch (25mm)
rainfall accumulations are possible across parts of SVG. Such rainfall accumulations could cause loose dry soils to become dislodged. Isolated showers are possible over the weekend, as mid level moisture becomes depleted with dry air sinking around the low pressure area.
Gentle to moderate breeze (15 - 30km/h) from the east south-east can be expected this afternoon into tonight. Wind speeds could pick up during Friday, backing to east north-east by evening. Varying directions are possible over the weekend.
Slight to moderate conditions with swells ranging 1.0 to 2.0m are across SVG. During Friday, wave heights are expected to increase temporarily with wave heights 1.2 – 1.8m on the west coasts and 1.8 – 2.2m on the east coasts; returning to slight to moderate conditions during Saturday.
Barometric readings should be dipping overnight near 1013mb, but expected tip near 1018mb over the next few days.
Slight haze on our horizon is gradually thinning out and no significant dust concentrations are expected over the weekend.
