A weak lower-level shearline/trough lingers across St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), with multilayered clouds and shower activity, as the mid-levels remain marginally supportive…see image at 4:30pm compliments RAMMB. At our Argyle station, 70mm (near 3 inches) of rainfall occurred overnight and further 10mm during today. There were reports of heavy stream-flow in the northern section of mainland St.Vincent. The hazy conditions
were limited to areas south of the Grenadines, due to the Western Atlantic High Pressure System maintaining its circulation just north of SVG and the shearline lingering across our islands. Hazy conditions should gradually move across SVG tonight, replacing the shearline as it shifts westward.
Moderate to occasionally fresh (20 – 40km/h) east north-easterly trades should across our islands, with reduction in speeds and little veering to easterly by mid-week.
Slight to moderate sea conditions with north-easterly swells ranging 0.5m to 1.2m on the west coasts and 1.2m to 1.8m on east coasts, can be expected over the next few days, slightly falling by mid-week to range 0.5 – 1.5m across SVG.
Barometric readings should range 1013 - 1016mb over the next few days.
A plume of Saharan dust near the Eastern Caribbean is reducing visibility and a westward shift in the shearline during Monday could result in dust concentrations thickening across SVG, but some variation in intensity can be expected on Tuesday.
