The northward positioning of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the leading edge of a tropical wave created cloudy skies across our islands from mid- morning. Showers and thunderstorm activity should move across the islands later today, with instability being elevated on Thursday…Residents and motorist should be alert for possible flash-flooding and thunderstorm activity later today into Thursday.
See visible image at 6:30am this morning compliments RAMMB, which triggered an alert for flash-flood and thunderstorm activity. Convective activity dissipated just east of St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
See radar and visible images at 11:50am this morning compliments METEOFRANCE and RAMMB (respectively), flash-flooding is possible across SVG, later today.
A weak trough should trail across the islands on Friday, followed by a low level trough creating some instability with scattered showers on Saturday.
Surface air should be light with variable direction across the islands this afternoon, slightly increasing to gentle tonight. Moderate south-easterly wind-flow should bring equatorial moisture on Thursday. Wind direction should be backing to north-easterly late Friday.
Sea conditions are expected to be smooth to slight in open water this afternoon, with easterly swells less than 1.2 m across SVG. A gradual increase in wave heights can be expected overnight, to range 1.0 - 2.0 m by late Thursday.
Slight haze should be noticeable on our horizon by late Thursday, occasionally thickening to moderate haze on Friday which could possibly limit shower activity and reduce visibility. Visibility should be improved again by Saturday. Barometric readings should range 1014 - 1017mb over the next few days, dipping slightly (1013mb) on Saturday.
