The upper level low over the Caribbean Sea continued to provide occasional support for convective activity across the northern portion of the island chain and just east of the island chain today. With the axis of the tropical wave/trough passed our area, some unstable conditions across our area could result in scattered showers overnight. As the upper level low shifts to the west, some moisture increase and support across our islands is possible by late Friday into the weekend. However, a relatively dry pocket air around 850mb level is expected to increase in moisture by Sunday as a forward tilt of an approaching wave moves closer to island chain.
Gentle south-easterly breeze can be expected until Sunday when east-northeasterly moderate breeze announces the approach of a trough system and the next tropical wave. This tropical wave which came off the ITCZ today is expected to lose most of its energy on approaching the island chain Monday.
Slight to moderate (1.0 m -2.0 m) seas should prevail into the weekend. By early Saturday, north-north-easterly swells on the east coast can be expected. Slight hazy conditions during the early morning hours should thin out Friday.
