Although a trough crossed our area today, the upper level dry air and subsidence inhibited cloud development and any shower activity. A couple troughs induced by the low pressure area in the North Atlantic, occasionally move across the island chain. One such low - mid level trough approaches the islands tonight, but upper level dry air and some subsidence will continue to limit showers. All indications are that low level moisture should increase by Thursday evening as another trough approaches. At the upper levels, moisture could return by Friday due to a possible short wave trough positions over our area as the deep layered High Pressure shifts westward while weakening across our area. The return of upper level support across our area could result in rainfall accumulations of 2 to 3 inches (50-75mm) between late Thursday and Friday. Unstable conditions could linger into the weekend.
Light to gentle (10 - 19km/h) east-north-easterly breeze should increase to moderate overnight. Generally, light to gentle breeze are expected to occasionally become moderate over next few days, veering to east-southeasterly by Friday evening.
Slight (0.6m - 1.2m) seas on the west coast could become briefly flat (0 - 0.6m) Thursday afternoon, while slight to (0.6m - 1.2m) seas on the east coast Thursday should rise gently to moderate by Saturday and the north-easterly swells should return to east-north easterly by Friday.
No significant reduction in visibility expected although slight haze may be seen on the horizon due to slight dust (20-40 ug/**3) concentrations.
