Wind speeds would continue to decrease gradually this week across St. Vincent & the Grenadines, ushering in warm conditions and increasing the potential for localised afternoon activity (showers and isolated thunderstorms). This is due to the presence of two storms in the Central Tropical Atlantic; Tropical storms Paulette and Rene pose no current threat to the islands. Nevertheless, the St. Vincent & the Grenadines Meteorological Service continues to monitor the progress of each feature.
Light to Gentle (~10 – 20 km/h) and predominantly east north east to easterly(ENE-E) trades are anticipated over the next 48 hours. By late Thursday, a slight decrease(~10-15km/h)is expected. On Friday winds speeds should become variable and less than 10km/h.
Currently, sea-conditions on the western coasts may appear smooth (near 0.5 m) and slight (near 1.2 m) on eastern coasts. By Wednesday night, slight to moderate(1.0m-1.5m) conditions could return, while generally moderate conditions may be experienced on Friday(1.5m-2.0m). Therefore , Small craft operators and sea-bathers are advised to exercise caution for above normal sea swells.
