Instability associated with two tropical waves would continue to influence the weather pattern across St. Vincent & the Grenadines this week.Tonight, some showers are anticipated into Wednesday as one wave continues its westward path away from the island chain. On Wednesday, cloudy skies and occasional showers are anticipated as unstable conditions linger across the islands after its passage. Another tropical wave should affect the islands on Thursday, bringing light rain, pockets of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorm activity under favourable upper level conditions. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should therefore continue to be alert and exercise caution.
Moderate to fresh (~20 – 35km/h) easterly trades would occasionally become east north easterly over the next 24 hours. By late Thursday the flow would become predominantly east south easterly. In addition, higher wind speeds are likely within the vicinity where moderate/heavy showers are concentrated.
Currently, sea conditions are slight to moderate(1.2m-2.0m) in open water. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution for above normal sea swells especially on eastern coasts. A slight deterioration to generally moderate(1.5m-2.2m) is anticipated from Wednesday evening.
Varying concentrations of dust haze may be noticeable from Wednesday afternoon with slight improvement possible on Friday.
