Lingering instability from a tropical wave generated showers and thunderstorm activity across St. Vincent & the Grenadines this morning. Similar conditions are anticipated for the remainder of the day across the Grenadines with occasional periods of minor improvement on mainland. Another tropical wave should affect the islands on Thursday, bringing light rain, pockets of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorm activity under favourable upper level conditions. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should therefore continue to be alert and exercise caution. On Friday, similar weather conditions are expected to persist. However, by mid afternoon Saturday some improvement to the weather pattern is likely to occur.
Moderate to fresh (~20 – 35km/h) easterly trades would occasionally become east north easterly over the next 24 hours. By late Thursday the flow would become predominantly east south easterly to occasionally strong(~40km/h) trades.
Currently, sea conditions are moderate(1.5m-2.2m) in open water. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution for above normal sea swells especially on eastern coasts. A slight deterioration (2.0m-2.5m) is anticipated by late this evening. Conditions could return to slight to moderate around late Friday.
Varying concentrations of dust haze may be noticeable for the remainder of the week with slight improvement to the visibility possible late Friday.
