The Western Atlantic High Pressure System now dominant across our area could be interrupted by a weak shearline Friday. Moisture levels are expected to be confined to lower levels, thus shallow scattered showers are expected since mid-upper levels should be dry and subsident. A significant drying at the mid levels is expected Sunday followed by weak instability across our area late Sunday. Occasional hazy conditions are expected to decrease by Saturday.
An increase in wind speeds are possible by tonight, with moderate to fresh breeze increasing further late Friday into Saturday causing small trees to sway with moderate branches in motion on land. Occasional strong (up to 50km/h) gusts may be experienced.
Along with increased wind speeds, sea swells in open water, sea swells on the west and east of St.Vincent and the Grenadines would continue to rise this evening and become more north-easterly. Marine conditions are expected to deteriorate by Friday evening with moderate to rough northerly sea-swells continuing Saturday in response to increased wind speeds. Large waves and dangerous rip-currents could create unsafe conditions for small craft operators; being more adverse at times of high-tide. Meanwhile, hazy patches of varying intensity continue to reduce visibility occasionally. A combination of sulfate (ocean spray) and dust concentrations may be experienced.
Sea bathers and other users of the sea are also advised to stay out of the water during the next few days. A High-Surf advisory and a Small-craft warning are in effect until 6:00 pm Sunday10th December, 2017 … Conditions should start improving late Sunday.
