As the tail end of a tropical wave crosses the islands, pockets of moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to persist tonight. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides and near rivers and streams should continue to exercise caution. Lingering instability will allow for occasional showers during the early parts of Monday with more pleasant conditions expected as the day progresses and along Tuesday. Unstable conditions could trigger additional scattered showers Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Breezy conditions will continue into the week. Winds are forecast to become easterly from late tonight(Sunday) into Monday and range between 25-40km/h. A decrease in wind speeds can be expected from late Tuesday (15-30km/h).
Small craft operators and sea bathers should be prepared for above normal sea swells and gusty winds as seas remain moderate to rough in open waters (1.5m on the western coasts, 3.0m on the eastern coasts). These marine conditions may persist through Monday, with a gradual improvement around late Tuesday as wind speeds decrease. Meanwhile, Saharan haze concentrations of varying intensity will cross the islands, decreasing around Tuesday.
