A light wind regime(10-20km/h) is expected over the next few days. In addition, an east south easterly wind flow is facilitating the transfer of equatorial moisture towards our islands. Consequently, some localised showers are possible during afternoons and these may be accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. Models suggest that instability should approach the islands late Tuesday into Wednesday allowing for light to moderate showers while Thursday is forecast to be warm.
Light to gentle (<20km/h) east south easterly trades will cross the islands over the next 24 hours. On Wednesday, winds should become east north easterly during the morning, then east south easterly by evening. A decrease in speeds is expected on Thursday along with an easterly flow. Seas will remain slight in open waters with swells peaking at 0.5m on the western coasts and ranging between 1.0m- 1.2m on the eastern coasts. Saharan dust haze concentrations will gradually decrease as the week progresses.
