Tropical storm Grace is affecting the Leewards, however, moisture and a south easterly wind flow associated with this system would generate cloudy skies and trigger occasional moderate showers and possible isolated thunderstorms across our islands this afternoon. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should remain alert. Model guidance further suggests that additional moisture would be drawn to our islands on Sunday as the southerly wind flow continues. This increases the potential for moderate to heavy showers. The Atlantic high pressure system should dominate the weather pattern on Monday, while on Tuesday, another tropical wave is forecast to affect our islands.
Light to gentle(less than 15km/h) south easterly trades will cross SVG this afternoon, slightly increasing(20-30km/h) on Sunday. On Monday winds would become east to east north easterly ahead of the tropical wave and increase(20-40km/h) and shift to east south easterly by mid-morning Tuesday.
Seas are slight in open water with swells peaking up to 0.5m on the western coasts and up to 1.2m on the eastern coasts. From late Sunday, swells on eastern coasts could peak to 1.5m. In addition, varying concentrations of Saharan dust haze are expected ahead of the tropical wave on Tuesday.
