A shearline that emanated from a passing tropical wave would continue to generate cloudy skies accompanied by occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms across our islands Friday into Saturday. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides and near rivers or streams should continue to remain alert. Some marginally improved weather conditions are likely late Saturday and during the earlier parts of Sunday, however by nightfall, models suggest that another tropical wave should begin to affect the islands into Monday. Moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated. The SVG Meteorological Service would continue to monitor the progress of this wave and provide the necessary updates.
Gentle to moderate(15-25km/h )east to east north easterly trades with higher gusts near showers will cross our islands for the remainder of the day, slightly increasing(near 35km/h) on Saturday. Similar wind conditions are expected on Sunday, but during Monday, wind speeds could become fresh to near gale(35-50km/h) when the approaching wave interacts with the island chain.
Seas are currently slight to moderate in open water with swells peaking up to 0.5 on western coasts and between 1.5 to 2.0 on eastern coasts. These conditions could deteriorate late Sunday and Monday as strong winds agitate the ocean surface. Small craft operators and sea-bathers should exercise caution for above normal sea swells and gusty winds.
