After several days of unsettled weather conditions, the Atlantic High Pressure System has re-established itself over our area. This is expected to result in brief isolated showers with occasional brisk easterly winds during the next 24 hours.
However, by Tuesday, an approaching low level trough is expected to move over the southern part of the region resulting in pockets of moderate/heavy showers under cloudy skies.
By late Wednesday, as low-level moisture moves further westward, a gradual improvement in the weather conditions is predicted.
Easterly to North-easterly winds ranging between 15 km/h to 30km/h (9 to 19 mph) is forecast during the next 24 to 36 hours. However, an increase between 20 to 40 km/h (12 to 25 mph) is predicted by late Tuesday.
Seas conditions will remain moderate in open waters, with swells peaking at 1.5 m on the western coasts and 2.5 m on the eastern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution for above normal sea swells and occasional gusty winds.
Analysis also suggests a thin layer of Saharan dust haze moving into the area by Wednesday
