As Tropical Storm Earl continues its west north westward path away from the Eastern Caribbean, equatorial moisture would be drawn to our islands as southerly winds prevail. In addition, the system's position is the main catalyst behind the reduced wind speeds which facilitates the warm conditions experienced across our islands. Day time heating, coupled with light southerly wind speeds increases the likelihood for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm activity across Sunday afternoon. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should remain alert.
Improved weather conditions are anticipated on Monday although occasionally cloudy conditions and the odd isolated shower remains a possibility. Scattered showers are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday. Gentle to moderate(15-25km/h) southerly to south easterly trades will cross the islands up to midweek. Seas will be slight to moderate in open waters with swells peaking near 1.0m on the western coasts and ranging between 1.0m to 2.0m on the eastern coasts. There will be no significant dust haze intrusion during this forecast period.
