At the low to mid levels, moisture increased overnight into early morning across our islands. The early morning shower activity has decreased and drying of the atmosphere is noticeable. The Atlantic High Pressure System should continue pumping moderate to fresh (25-38km/h) trade winds from the east-north east across our area,
becoming north-easterly by tonight with occasional strong gusts.
At the low levels, moisture converging on the south-eastern edge of the High Pressure could result in occasionally cloudy skies with few scattered showers.
As the Western Atlantic (Bermuda) High Pressure builds on Sunday, a general increase in wind speeds is expected across our area. Fresh to strong breeze (29-49 km/h) on Sunday should increase further by nightfall with gusts possibly reaching moderate gale (56km/h) strength. Steady strong breeze should prevail on Monday and Tuesday; with large branches in motion and whistling heard in overhead wires on land. Long waves forming at sea with frequent white foam crests and possibly airbourne spray.
Sea swells are currently slight to moderate (1.2m to 2.5m) with a gradual increase expected late Sunday, as ocean waters respond to increased wind speeds. Moderate (1.5m to 2.5m) seas are expected on the west and moderate to rough (1.8m to 3.0m) on the east by Monday and Tuesday. Clusters of Sargassum seaweed are also present along coastal waters.
A few thin patches of dust concentration could reduce visibility in slight haze, while some models indicate possible approach of dust mass by Tuesday.
