A surface to low-level trough is affecting SVG and this would generate occasionally cloudy skies and trigger some scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms tonight(Saturday). Residents and motorists in areas prone to flash-flooding and landslides and near rivers and streams should remain alert. As the trough continues its passage away from the islands, lingering instability would provide additional activity on Sunday. Improved weather conditions are anticipated from Monday as a ridge pattern is expected to rebuild and dominate
Occasional breezy conditions will persist with north-easterly to easterly winds ranging between 15 to 30 km/h (9 to 19 mph) .However an increase to near 40 km/h (25 mph) is expected by from Sunday. As a result, seas condition will remain moderate in open waters, with swells peaking near 1.5 m on western coasts and ranging between 2.3 m to 2.5 m on eastern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers should continue to exercise caution for above normal sea swells
Slight Saharan dust haze will continue over the islands this afternoon. However, an increase in concentrations is likely overnight resulting in a further reduction in air quality and visibility.
