This afternoon into tonight, weak instability across the island chain should maintain gentle to moderate wind speeds with skies becoming cloudy at times due to mid and upper level clouds. The axis of a weak trough should cross our area at mid levels, followed by shearline at lower levels overnight bringing few scattered showers across the Windward Islands.
Instability should linger into Friday with few scattered showers.
A temporary drying of the lower atmosphere is expected Saturday with possible isolated showers. Meanwhile, a low expected off the USA east coast as well as an Atlantic High Pressure positioning east of the island chain, could squeeze an area of instability (moisture/showers) across the southern and central Windward Islands by Sunday…(this situation would be monitored for rainfall accumulations)
Gentle to moderate (12-28km/h) breeze are expected this afternoon and tonight, veering to east south-east by late Friday. A more southerly wind, though light and gentle is expected on Sunday. Also, a fall in Mean sea-level pressure (1008-1010mb) values is anticipated.
Moderate to rough in seas in open water with swells up to 1.5m on west and up to 3.0m on east should generally retreat by Friday afternoon. Visibility should remain good, with less than 20ug/m**3 in dust concentration across our area.
