Cloud patches could bring a few showers and isolated thunderstorms across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) this evening. Moisture levels are likely to increase across our islands during Thursday, as a ‘Potential Tropical System’ tracks closer to Leeward Islands. Slight haze may be noticeable across our area during Thursday and Saturday due Saharan dust.
Gentle-moderate (15 - 25km/h) north-easterlies could increase near 30km/h on Thursday and become calm overnight Friday, before turning southerly with light winds Saturday morning.
Marine conditions are slight (0.5m - 1.2m) in open water, rising to moderate (1.5m - 2.5m) conditions across our islands by Thursday night and becoming rough during Friday…Small craft operators and sea-bathers should exercise extreme caution. Seas retreat during Saturday.
The ‘Potential System’ east of the Windward Islands has a high (80%) chance of development. The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services (SVG MET Services) will continue to monitor the Tropical Atlantic Ocean and issue updates/advisories as necessary.
