A shearline/trough lingers across the Windward Islands, oriented diagonal NE-SW through our islands. Periods of rain, with occasional moderate to heavy showers can be expected across St. Vincent and the Grenadines this afternoon into tonight. Elevated moisture could penetrate the mid-levels, with mid to upper levels supporting shower activity.
Also, patches of dust concentrations are moving along with the trough which could inhibit shower activity. However, models indicate rainfall accumulations of near 2 to 3 inches are possible across parts of SVG overnight/early morning Sunday. Residents and motorists should exercise caution; near rivers and streams and low lying areas. Mid level diffluent pattern should wane Sunday afternoon, as the upper portion of a deep low moves off to the east allowing gradual decrease in shower activity. Mid-upper level moisture/cloudiness should be decreased on Monday.
Light to gentle (6-19km/h) winds should be expected this afternoon with varying directions, which could allow for localized showers. Light air from the south east overnight should gradually increase on Sunday becoming gentle to moderate (12-28 km/h).
Mean sea-level pressure should range 1010-1012 mb rising on Sunday to 1012-1014 mb. Slight to moderate sea swells should continue for the next few days.
Seismic activity with undersea volcano Kick'em Jenny, near 12.18N 61.38W has steadily declined, alert level for mariners has returned to normal, with an exclusion zone of 1.5 km. Please see www.nadma.gd for additional information.
