Additional moisture is being drawn to our islands as the ITCZ (Inter Tropical Convergence Zone) migrates northwards. In addition, light wind speeds will continue within this forecast period, therefore, warm conditions will persist along with the increasing possibility for localised afternoon showers. A mixture of cloudy skies, sunny and warm conditions with interruptions of moderate pockets of showers and isolated thunderstorms can be expected within the next 3 days.
Light and gentle (<20km/h) east south easterly trades will cross the islands during this forecast period. Sea conditions are smooth to slight on eastern coasts ranging from 0.5m to 1.0m and moderate on eastern coasts peaking near 1.5m. No significant Saharan dust haze concentrations are expected during this forecast period.
September 10th marks the peak of the hurricane season. The month of September also has the highest average maximum temperature (31.3℃ - 30 year average) on record in SVG. Similar warm conditions were experienced around this time last year. The public is strongly advised to take the necessary precautionary measures to alleviate warm conditions.
